Cognac (Mitchell Beazley Classic Wine Library) Customer Review: Brandy is for heroes
The next stage book for wine lovers. After the wine, then the cognac. Nicholas Faith takes the reader through the topic with seriousness and frivolity. If you want to know the secrets of a good cognac, this book tells you. And it’s fun to read.

Wine Behind the Label 2008: The Ultimate Guide to the Worlds Leading Wine Providers and Their Wine Customer Review: It’s as good as they say, nearly
Great wine guide. It’s very similar to Hugh Johnson’s pocket guide but with much greater detail.

Talking of Hugh Johnson, this guide suffers from the demon proof-reader too - perhaps they’ve all been sampling too much vino! Unless you’ve got a fantastic memory, Hugh Johnson’s guide is probably more useful as it can easily be carried around on wine buying trips, Wine Behind TL is really too bulky for that.

Wouldn’t be without it though. It’s encyclopedic knowledge will help you track down the wines that you want.
Customer Review: the best book of its kind; if you want to buy good wine this is the answer.
I have been buying this annual for some years and with each edition it gets surer and more authoritative. The cover is getting covered with more awards each year. And it has now left all the star-names behind.
The two authors divide the whole of the Wine world by region. This is done pretty seamlessly because they seem to have the same palate. Their achievement is to include all the good producers by region which is surprisingly rare. They give the least breathless but most complete and accurate descriptions too.
The authors live in Europe and their tastes reflect this; Europe, Australia and NZ is covered more extensively than the Americas. The highlights are Burgundy and Italy.
Each region’s intro. is also rewritten each year and always up to date. Its the best if you are seriously interested in this kind of juice!
